The Great Lake Walk 2007

This past Saturday Kerry and I ventured out on the Great Lake Walk together. It is an annual event that has been running for seven years now. There is the opportunity to raise money for a cause but we thought we would just do it for the sake of doing it.
Here we are, clean and as green as can be at 4:30 in the morning just before the 5:00 start of the walk.
This is a map of the 56 kilometre route of the walk. For the most part it was uphill on a well used gravel logging road. Trevor's co-worker said that it is the equivalent of walking from downtown Victoria to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, riding the ferry to Tsawwassen, then walking from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal all the way to downtown Vancouver.
We didn't really have a goal for time but we were overjoyed to run across the finish line, ring the bell and look up at the time clock to see it at 8 hours, 58 minutes and a handful of seconds. My mom's wonderful smiling face was there to greet us coming across the finish line but she forgot her camera so we've got no proof that we finished except for the fact that we truly cannot walk. I have two blisters and Kerry wound up with 5 or 6 and I have a toenail on my right foot that is about ready to fall off. But we finished it under nine hours and ran across the finish line together. Congratulations Kerry, thanks for the memories and the encouragement!
