Friends....spring is most definitely here and I've been taking advantage of the last few days of warm and sunny weather we've been enjoying here.
:: I've got a few posts to put together for you including our Easter weekend and a photography focused post ::
In the meantime, I would love some input from you, my wonderful blog readers.....yesterday I took my third trip of the week into town on my own two feet and made sure to bring along my trusty new friend the Canon Rebel XSi to capture the beauty that is my small town in the spring time. Here is my problem.......I can't decide whether this is an amazing photo or a huge mess.
Because all is fair in love and blogging, please give me your honest opinion!
My husband has already stated he's on the fence as am I and I know there are lots of you photography buffs out there who can dissect and analyze with a better eye than this beginner.
This is also a shout to many who may have stumbled across the blog of my mundane life and have yet to say hello......I would also be delighted to hear from you.......thanks to my handy-dandy little site-meter I know there are some checking in from the US states such as Ohio, Michigan and Texas and someone coming from Essex in the great United Kingdom....I am so intrigued as to how you found me!
(Okay, I confess, I'm just searching for affirmation that anyone actually reads my random ramblings and this whole "rate-my-photo" thing is a weak ploy to make myself feel good by getting lots of comments.)
Oops.....did I say that out loud?
*smile*
But seriously.......I do love to hear from ya'll so if you got a second please leave me your thoughts on this one and check back soon for some really awesome posts!

I'm no photo professional but I think this photo is pretty cool. It has some very cool qualities. I love seeing light come into a photo, due to that fact that I'm a sucker for sunshine and anytime that can be captured in a photo is a blessing, especially since we live in such a rainy place! :-) I'm sure that a pro would say something about the light but I love the light!

I recently got a new camera and I've been taking a million and one photos, especially of my model, my puppy! HAHAHA He's gotten to the point now that as soon as the camera is turned on, he stops what he's doing and comes to sit for me. Silly puppy. I'm looking forward to taking some more photos of landscape and scenery. Enjoy yours!!

Hey Christy! I like the new header... I also LOVE cherry blossoms and just finished framing three pretty pink flowery pictures for the front entrance that I took while I was on the island :)

Hmmm now with the photo...it's totally just a personal preference/style but I think that the frame that you captured could have better potential. I like the idea... but if some of the flowers on the lower half were in better focus, and the ball of sun were more round and defined I think you would have yourself an EVEN better photo! It is hard to acheieve... and you could even cheate and create that look in photoshop.

I DO like that the color is sort of washed out...
But seriously, it's not a professional opinion as much as what I would do :)

Hey Christy!
I think the photo is pretty cool! But I'm NO professional, so I'm sure there are some reasons why it could be better. But I like the light and the way that the camera captured everything!
Have a wonderful day!

Hey Christy and Trevor!

Great new look, I just updated the look of my blog too!

As for the photo...I like it but I don't love it. I hope I'm not to critical but I think that it could be a stronger image if the sun was more defined and not so blown out (bright) and the flowers were more in focus.(try playing around in manual mode) I think it could also have been stronger if the sun was higher up in the frame, and not in the center (look up the rule of thirds)

However, I think you have some strong visual elements. I like the way that the dark branches and the branch with the flowers lead your eyes from left to right (which is the opposite of the way we usually work) - it creates interest!

Anyways that's my two cents, I hope it makes sense! Congrats on the new camera, I look forward to watching your skills progress!

Ok, I really love the picture. I too am no professional, but seriously I think with this one, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it's just personal opinion. I love to read your blog Christy!

I know nothing about photography, but I really like this picture!! But it seems that all of us non-professional people think it's really cool!

Oooh! Cherry blossoms! Spring! Love it! You have a great blog.

First of all, are your shooting in manual or automatic? IF you are in automatic, read through your trusty manual and learn all that you can! That way you can use the camera to your advantage. Use it to do what you want to do. In auto the camera makes the decisions.

IF you are shooting in manual, you want to lower your f stop way down. To around f/11. What you have is the starting of sunflare! I LOVE sunflare. Your highlights are bright (blown out) but it is all a matter of opinion. If you were to stop down, you would get more of a star shape to your sunflare.

If you are using photoshop, you could also bump up your contrast a bit! Or recover a bit of the photo to bring down the bright.

Keep playing around. I can tell you have a great eye. Photography is so fun!

Happy Spring!
