WANTED: Your Opinion

Attention Moms, Aunties, Grandmas and anyone else that can help me! My mom is looking to buy a stroller, she would like a side-by-side double stroller. She's already been warned to make sure that the front wheel(s) will swivel but what she's not sure about, is the difference between a single front wheel like this Phil&Ted's.......
.....or two front wheel assemblies like this Baby Jogger.
She would use it on roads and sidewalks but also wants something good for hiking trails and un-paved paths.
I'm sure many of you read my blog and have never commented but if you've got an opinion or some light you can shed from experience, friend or stranger, please, let me know! I very much look forward to hearing all different sides so my mom can make the right decision!
Thanks in advance.....

I obviously don't have a stroller yet and don't have much knowledge about each specific one, but as i have been researching them one thing, actually my sister in law has been doing for me is finding out if there has been any recalls on them. The internet is a great tool for that. You can check out consumer reports and such which give you lots of information:) Happy stroller hunting!

Hey girl... Definitely go with one wheel... So nice for off-roading, hiking, snow etc... I have a BOB Revolution... Amazing stroller... Made specifically for jogging and hiking etc. The front wheel swivels, but also can be locked... It's easier to lock the front wheel when you're jogging or off-roading or in the snow... Check out www.bobgear.com and click on the Bob Revolution Duallie. Also, it folds up really well and the rear tires come off very easy to fit in the trunk. Hope this helps!!! Bri

I don't like the P'n T's because the one child is sitting under the other child {once there are two kids}. Which means one childs head is under the other childs butt. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to have my head right under a baby butt!

I prefer side by side, once the kids are older there is enough leg room in both the seats. It's fair. No fighting. Just sit down and hold on, Oma's driving!

Thanks gals....to reinterate, I am wondering if it is better to have two double wheels in the front or one single wheel?
She definitely wants a side-by-side Shawna, she loved yours so much!

Hi, I am Shawnas friend. I am due in three months and have been looking at different strollers and the one that I like the best is the Phil and Teds. I like the idea of one wheel at the front and it is so easy to use. If you get a chance you should test drive a few. I tried the double stroller and I found it too big for me. I think if you went shopping or anything you would have a tough time as they are larger then the one on top of the other.Good luck with the search and let us know what she decided on.

Hey Cristy. I actually own that Phil and Teds stroller. We got it when we knew we were expecting again... but didn't want to be driving around a double for months before baby # 2 arrived. It works great for us and like Elyshia said, it's easy for manuvering around (especially through stores!) because it's only the width of a single. As far as the 1-wheel VS. 2-wheels in the front goes... I think if she's already planning on getting one that is side by side, then I would try to find one with 2-wheels in the front. Reason being that there have been times where I've been on trails, and find that if you are on a slope trying to go straight, that the stroller wants to tip over to one side because it's not as balanced in the front with just the one wheel (does that make sense?) Again, I love the phil and ted's stroller.. but every stroller has up's a down's to it. If I were to buy a side by side in the future I'd probably get one with 2 wheels in the front. Hope that helps!

After your post you got me thinking about what kind of stroller I may want if I were to get a side by side. I found this one that I really like:http://www.mountainbuggy.com/catalog/double/double-urban/

I'm not sure where they carry them though. Anyway, happy shopping and let us know what your mom decides on!

They used to carry the Mountain Buggy at Trendy Tots downtown.

I have the Phil n' Ted's sport double and I love it. I had Makena and Rhys in it and no one cared who's butt was on who's head and they both slept no prob! I love my stroller and am SO happy with it! Since your mom only has one grandbaby then this is a great way to have a double that can stay single until she needs it to be a double. My opinion of course!!
As for the 2 wheels vs. one I don't know as I have only eperienced one wheel......sorry!

for hiking and unpaved roads i would say that you definitley want a stroller that has tires which are larger, rubber, and inflatable because that offers more control and rides smoother. for a side-by-side, like she wants, a stroller with two wheels up front offers better balance ... not necessary for the mall or just going to the park, but for regular out-back adventures :) the double is much better! it is also REALLY nice to have the option of swivel wheels BUT ALSO being able to lock them for certain conditions/activities.
